Katherine (Katie) Matusik was born on July 18, 1990 in Richardson, Texas to Mary and Mike Matusik - a younger sister for Mikey and Johnny. Katie's interest in gymnastics began when she started attending recreational gymnastics classes at the age of three. Fourteen years on, and Katie is about to enter her last season as a Level 10 athlete before taking up a full athletic scholarship at the University of Arizona.

Katie trains at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) under some of the best coaches and choreographers from the former USSR alongside a large and talented group of gymnasts. She is a three time qualifier to the JO National Championships and has won state and regionals titles, most recently on balance beam at the 2007 Region III Regional Championships. She is looking forward to her final season competing for WOGA and hopes to qualify to Nationals for a fourth consecutive year in 2008.

In July 2007 Katie made a verbal commitment to join the University of Arizona gymnastics team on a full scholarship for the 2008-09 Season. The Arizona Wildcats finished the 2007 Season ranked 13th nationally and qualified three individual athletes to the 2007 NCAA Championships.

When she is not working hard in the gym, Katie enjoys spending time with her friends. Very close to her family, Katie's heros are her parents and she draws great inspiration from her Nana - who always gives her good advice. Katie has always enjoyed watching Johnny play baseball and this year he began playing professionally for the Texas Heat in the Continental Baseball League. Oldest brother Mickey is a member of the United States Air Force.
